Local superfluid densities probed via current-induced superconducting phase gradients

چکیده
We have developed a superconducting phase gradiometer consisting of two parallel DNA-templated nanowires connecting two thin-film leads. We have ramped the cross current flowing perpendicular to the nanowires, and observed oscillations in the lead-to-lead resistance due to cross-current-induced phase differences. By using this gradiometer we have measured the temperatureand magnetic-field dependence of the superfluid density, and observed an amplification of phase gradients caused by elastic vortex displacements. We examine our data in light of Miller-Bardeen theory of dirty superconductors and a microscale version of Campbell’s model of field penetration.

Quantum coherence in a superfluid Josephson junction.
We report a new kind of experiment in which we take an array of nanoscale apertures that form a superfluid (4)He Josephson junction and apply quantum phase gradients directly along the array. We observe collective coherent behaviors from aperture elements, leading to quantum interference. Connections to superconducting and Bose-Einstein condensate Josephson junctions as well as phase coherence ...

We present a new type of cryogenic local velocity probe that operates in liquid helium (1 K < T < 4.2 K) and achieves a spatial resolution of ≈ 0.1 mm. The operating principle is based on the deflection of a micro-machined silicon cantilever which reflects the local fluid velocity. Deflection is probed using a superconducting niobium micro-resonator sputtered on the sensor and used as a strain ...

The presence of macroscopic phase separation into superconducting and magnetic phases in LaFeAsO1−xFx and CaFe1−xCoxAsF is demonstrated by muon spin rotation (μSR) measurement across their phase boundaries (x = 0.06 for LaFeAsO1−xFx and x = 0.075–0.15 for CaFe1−xCoxAsF). In LaFeAsO0.94F0.06, both magnetism and superconductivity develop simultaneously below a common critical temperature, Tm ≃ Tc...
متن کاملsuperfluid densities in superconducting films in a parallel magnetic field
In this paper we develop a theory of mesoscopic fluctuations in disordered thin superconducting films in a parallel magnetic field. At zero temperature and sufficiently strong magnetic field the system undergoes a phase transition into a state characterized by a superfluid density, which is random in sign. Consequently, in this region, random supercurrents are spontaneously created in the groun...

The Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) phase, a superconducting state with nonzero total momentum Cooper pairs in a large magnetic field, was first predicted about 50 years ago and has since become an important concept in many branches of physics. Despite an intensive search in various materials, unambiguous experimental evidence for the FFLO phase is still lacking in experiments. In this ...
